The picture&#8217;s not fantastic because I took it with my phone, but this particular Legacy is what Subaru is calling a PZEV, or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.subaru.com\/sub\/misc\/environment\/index.html#smart\">Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><embed src=\"movies\/record-scratch.wav\" autostart=false loop=false height=15 width=350 controls=\"smallconsole\"><\/p>\n<p>Partial what? Zero <em>what?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Okay, so this particular vehicle produces significantly fewer emissions than the average, according to Subaru&#8217;s propaganda, and I&#8217;m willing to accept that with maybe a grain\u2014or cup\u2014of salt. Good for them. And heck, I <em>love<\/em> their cars.<\/p>\n<p>But what genius in Marketing came up with the term &#8220;Partial <em>Zero<\/em> Emissions?&#8221; What exactly is part of zero? Presumably by Subaru&#8217;s reckoning, part of zero is&#8230;.well, some. I guess.<\/p>\n<p>Not by the reckoning of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/search?hl=en&#038;q=0%2F5&#038;btnG=Google+Search\">most folks<\/a>, but I guess that&#8217;s the magic of advertising in action.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Snapped this one at my local Subaru service department while I was waiting for them to finish with my car.
