Oh, This Is Too Cute….

This just came in from my friend Mike, who is a pilot for Aloha Airlines:

Aloha Airlines this week week brought back our retro 60’s–70’s “Funbird” 737-200 livery for a special edition aircraft. The chrome work is outstanding although not nearly as groovy as the flight attendant uniforms. Feel free to pass these on to anyone who lived in Hawaii in the 70’s.

Aloha,
Michael

Yes, indeedy, the plane is groovy (when was the last time I heard that word?), and the FAs are darling. Even groovier — at the moment — is the fare war between Hawaiian, Aloha, and our newest Air-wannabee, GO (aka Mesa Airlines). In the month or so since GO arrived, we had fares of Zero, $19, and now $39 (one way)….compared to $150 + a bit earlier. Expert opinion has it that fares under $50-60 are not sustainable. The Big Two are figuring to starve GO out of the market, as they have with other wannabees in the past. So, as we say in Hawaii, GO NOW! Oi Weh, Business as usual!

Margaret took one look at the stew’s outfits and said, “uh, uh, no way, never wear one of those things, not if you put a gun to my head.” Personally I think they’re kind of cute, but admittedly I wouldn’t wear one either.

God, how I miss the good old days of regulation, and I hardly remember them….
